It comes as a new report predicts a further hike in rental prices for tenants in the coming years.

The report from Real Estate agency Savills finds that a lack of housing supply remains a huge problem in the Irish property market

The shortage of accomodation is predicted to drive up rents by over a quarter over the next 2 and a half years

Douglas Hurley from DNG O'Sullivan Hurley insists that strengthening rent rules would benefit landlords and tenants alike, as it would give greater financial certainty to both.

Meanwhile the Clare representative for Housing Association "Respond!" believes a combination of measures is required to increase housing supply.

Paul Hargarden is backing calls for the reduction of levies on property developers, however he says this alone won't solve the problem.
