Calls have been made for a full-time environmental officer to be appointed to the Killaloe Municipal District in an effort to tackle ongoing issues with illegal dumping.

There are only three wardens in the county which means that the East Clare district, which covers more than a third of the county, is only monitored on a part-time basis.
Maghera Councillor Pat Hayes has pointed to an increasing number of litter blackspots and says every effort must be made to prosecute those responsible.
He believes a considerable boost in resources is needed.
