Calls for Ennis parking fees reduction

Calls for a cut in parking prices in Ennis have been met with claims that a reduction of just 10 cent will cost the town Council 80,000 euro.

The Ennis Town Manager says council finances show that knocking even as little as 10 cent off the 1.30 an hour parking fee would equate to a loss of 70 to 80,000 euro a year at a time when funding for local services is under increasing pressure.

Ger Dollard was commenting on the recent Retail Excellence Ireland Survey which placed Ennis in 61st position out of 100 towns nationally, and was most critical of parking prices and availability, as well as the choice of local shops.
