Calls have been made for illegal dumping fines to be raised as high as €1,000 following another severe incident in South-East Clare.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, couches, mattresses, bed boards and a large volume of household waste was discovered blocking the road at Gallows Hill in Cratloe.

Currently, the maximum on the spot fine for fly-tipping in a public place is €150.
Cratloe Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat O’Gorman says penalties need to be raised and perpetrators named and shamed.
