Fresh calls have been made for a dedicated retail crime prevention officer to be stationed in Clare.
A recent CSO report found that incidents of shop theft were the second most prevalent offence committed in Clare last year, with 164 instances recorded.

Anti-social behaviour has also been noted as a major issue for shop owners, with a further 138 public order offences occurring in the county last year.
Speaking on Clare FM’s Morning Focus, Managing Director of Crowe’s Gala in Sixmilebridge, Flora Crowe, says there’s currently too long a wait for Gardaí to follow up on instances of shop theft.
