Calls are growing for a major increase in childcare funding in Clare due to growing difficulty for households.
It comes as applications open today for a new €25m scheme focusing on capital projects, which can provide for new facilities, extensions and modular buildings with grants of up to €650,000 available.

Due to overwhelming demand, Cois Ceim Childcare Centre in Lisdoonvarna was forced to close its waiting list in April, and has just received planning permission for a three room extension this week.
Manager Siobhán Brennan says it will make a huge difference, but more funding will be crucial for the future of the sector.
