Calls have been made for a change in legislation after farmers in South-East Clare were left out of pocket after rubbish was illegally dumped on their land by someone else.
Councillors in the area say a bags of rubbish and even dead horses have been dumped on land, and that when this is reported, farmers are forced to pay for the clean-up even though they themselves re not to blame.
Meelick Fianna Fáil Councillor Cathal Crowe says the situation is absurd, and is seeking a change in the law.
