A call has been made for CCTV to be installed in an area described as a “hotbed for antisocial behaviour” in Shannon.
The Shannon Loop Walk is a Special Area of Conservation boasting a number of viewing points and is an amenity well used by walkers, joggers and members of the community.
Illegal dumping has proven to be a persistent issue in the area, however, with broken glass and litter scattered across heavily trafficked pathways, while recently a bench at one of the viewing points has also been burned out.
Local Sinn Féin Representative, Shane Doody says residents are becoming increasingly frustrated over what has become a continuous and worsening issue for the community.
