The Minister for Justice is being called on to deploy additional Garda resources to the Shannon area.
It's feared that policing is being compromised because of the numbers of Gardai stationed in the area who are deployed to Shannon Airport.
Cllr Gerry Flynn raised the issue at a meeting of the Shannon Municipal District Council where he highlighted reports of 55 burglaries in two town over a 9 month period.
