It’s claimed Clare’s housing shortage can be tackled by improving existing policies.
According to GeoDirectory, there are approximately 5,071 vacant and derelict homes in this county, however campaign group Uplift believe the true figure is much higher.

So far, 304 households in Clare have had their applications for the Vacant Property and Refurbishment Grant approved, but only 40 payments have been processed by the local authority to date.
Director of Uplift, Kilmurry McMahon native Siobhán O’Donoghue believes many more families would benefit from the scheme if it was tweaked.
