Calls For Enhanced Energy Supports To Keep Doors Of Clare’s Food Outlets Open

A Clare Restaurateur claims many food-led businesses are unsure if their doors will be open in a years time due to soaring operating costs.

Cabinet is due to examine potential supports for hospitality providers this week, however Tánaiste Micheál Martin has poured cold water on the prospect of reducing the sector’s VAT rate from 13.5% to 9%.

As part of measures introduced in Budget 2024, government will introduce three household energy credits of €150 throughout the year.
