Calls For Council To Be Tougher On Those Who Won’t Pay Social Rents

There are calls for Clare County Council to be tougher on those who won’t pay social housing rents, and to enhance support for those who can’t pay.

It’s after a Clare FM investigation revealed the local authority was owed €1.46 million in rental arrears last year, a number that’s jumped by more than 25 percent in the past five years.

Clare County Council says a ‘balance must be struck’ between collecting rent arrears and providing tenants with support.
