Calls For Council To Begin Preparing Rural Housing & Planning Strategy Quickly

There are calls for Clare County Council to begin preparing a housing and planning policy now for an expected influx of new residents here in the coming years.

It’s envisaged the population of rural Ireland will increase by 500,000 by 2040, with tens of thousands more people potentially making the move to Clare.

The local authority says it’s currently developing a Housing Strategy to support the development of rural areas as part of the draft 2022-2028 County Development Plan.
