Calls For More Clare People To Avail Of Derelict And Vacant Property Refurbishment Grants

It’s claimed Clare people have a much greater role to play in breathing life back into local towns and villages.

At the end of last year, the local authority was in receipt of 279 applications for Croí Conaithe funding, which can provide up to €50,000 for the restoration of vacant dwellings and €70,000 for derelict buildings.

Subject to approval, this could lead to a potential investment of up to €7m to refurbish homes across the county.

Newmarket-On-Fergus based Fianna Fáil local election candidate David Griffin believes greater participation in the scheme is key to tackling the housing crisis.
