Calls For Clare County Council To Prevent Further Beach Closures

There are growing calls for the local authority to prevent swimming restrictions at Clare’s most popular beaches from happening again.

High levels of bacteria were found in the water in Lahinch, Spanish Point, Kilkee and other coastal areas earlier this summer, which was caused by run-off following heavy rainfall.

The measures were implemented in August – at the height of the tourism and ‘staycation’ season.
