It’s claimed that restrictions on community employment schemes are making it impossible to fill positions in rural parts of Clare.
A delegation from Clare County Council has met with Social Protection Minister Regina Doherty, urging her to remove the three-year cap on the scheme for those over 55, who are at a loss because of it.
The scheme aims to help those in long-term unemployment get back into work in their own area – and during it they do a lot of community work.
