The 343 Ennis-Shannon-Limerick bus route could soon become a half-hourly instead of hourly service.
Bus Éireann has said that it “recognises that hourly service is insufficient on this corridor” in light of criticism of the service for buses being late, not showing up and not stopping at designated stops.
The 343 service has recorded a rise in demand of 60pc since pre-pandemic times with 44,000 people per month now using the service compared to just 26,000 in 2019.
Sinn Féin Councillor Donna McGettigan says that having buses every half hour would be a significant improvement as if commuters miss buses, they would have less time to wait until the next one.
