The Oireachtas Justice committee is calling on the state to formally acknowledge Traveller Ethnicity.
The committee says it's of the view that Travellers are, de facto, a separate ethnic group and should be recognised as such.
The members of the cross party group says it would like the Taoiseach to make a statement to the Dáil on the matter at the earliest date possible in 2017.
