An Ennis councillor is calling for a weekend market to be opened up at the controversial Market Building in the county town, to rival Limerick’s Milk Market.
The building first opened three years ago, at a cost of €1.75 million, with capacity for 21 traders – but has since fallen into use as a carpark and has long been referred to as a “white elephant” for the town.

Now, fresh calls are being made to bring it back to what it was originally intended for and ensure that it’s not being wasted.
A deputation from Clare will visit the Limerick market in the coming weeks as part of a brainstorming exercise and Ennis Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat Daly, who proposed the idea, says the success of that one justifies this call:
