It’s claimed the number of people coming to Clare in search of their ancestry should be reason enough to increase funding for maintenance of our graveyards.
The new Cathaoirleach of the West Clare Municipal District Ian Lynch is calling on the local authority to up the current level of funding.

He believes more is needed for the likes of grass cutting, cleaning and general upkeep of Clare cemeteries, to ensure they don’t fall by the wayside.
The local authority has assured that at the next budget, it can be considered – but Independent Kilrush Cllr Lynch says it’s vital we don’t lose our history.
