Call For Incentives For Vacant Building Owners In Tulla Centre

It’s hoped some incentives will be given to owners of vacant buildings in Tulla to renovate their properties and bring life back into the town centre.

An action plan is mounting for the East Clare town with the aim of rejuvenating the centre and ensuring its viability going forward.

This week’s meeting of the Killaloe Municipal District has seen fresh focus on the future of Tulla.

While plenty of businesses are thriving in the town, a number of both commercial and residential properties there have been lying vacant in recent years.

Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat Hayes says it’s time now to bring a new lease of life into Tulla to future-proof the town:

One of those in business in Tulla is Paul Donlon, who co-runs the local Super Valu.

The busy shop sits right in the centre of town and has a steady flow of customers coming through its door.

Paul is in Tulla 15 years now and says while things have changed in that time, there’s still plenty of opportunity to be found

But now he agrees action is needed.

And it appears the rejuvenation of Tulla has already begun in some quarters.

In recent months, Eugene Cooney took over the long-standing hardware shop there.

A native of Tulla, Eugene says it’s the ideal place to do business and he’s already seeing strong support from the community.

A public information evening is set to be held in Tulla in the coming weeks, with Clare County Council saying its Economic Directorate is on hand to meet locals, with a view to supporting the town.
