The Head of the Shannon College of Hotel Management believes a change in mindset about the hospitality industry is needed, in order to secure it’s future here.
Dr Phillip Smyth is concerned that school-leavers are discouraged from entering the sector because of pre-conceived notions about it.

It comes at a time when many areas of the industry are under strain because of a lack of available staff to fill vacancies, in particular with chef jobs.
