Cahercalla Staff Strike Will Go Ahead If Agreement Isn’t Reached

Staff at Cahercalla Hospice could be walking off the job in as soon as a fortnights time, after SIPTU union members voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action.

As part of an ongoing dispute over the restoration of pay cuts introduced three years ago, 96 percent of the union’s nurses and support staff voted in favour of strike action.

Management at the hospital rejected a Labour Court recommendation to restore the pay in three stages, starting in July, but in a statement say they’re liaising with unions to reach an agreement.
