Plans to proceed with a 40 million euro roads project including the proposed Killaloe Bypass may face a delay.
Yesterday An Bord Pleanala approved the development which includes a River Shannon Crossing, the bypass and other roadworks on the link route between Ballina an Birdhill.
The next phase will now focus on the design element of the project before it goes to tender, while Compulsory Purchase Orders for property along the proposed route will also be submitted by Clare County Council.
However objectors to the development- who outlined their concerns at an oral hearing last year – have 60 days to seek a judicial review and have indicated they will be proceeding to do so.
