Warning Of Vastly Changed Pub Scene In Ireland Post-COVID

A prominent Ennis publican is warning that the pub scene in Ireland could be vastly changed once we come through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pub sector was one of the first to be hit by the crisis, when they were forced to shut down after crowds continued to defy social distancing guidelines being issued by the government.

Concerns have been expressed now by the Vintners Federation of Ireland that some smaller pubs may never return from this crisis.

Clare VFI Chair and Ennis Chamber Vice President Darragh McAllister is hopeful that the majority of businesses will weather this storm, but says what the pub scene will be like afterwards is still in question.
