Number Of Clare Businesses Not Re-open Today Despite Restrictions Easing

A number of Clare businesses won’t re-open their doors today despite the latest easing of restrictions.

In what the Taoiseach has described as a milestone day for Ireland, thousands of people are returning to the workplace today, while indoor gym, dance and art classes also back.

Businesses in Clare are being warned not to ‘rest on their laurels’ as the return to the workplace begins today.

Updated guidelines, which are set to run until October 22nd oblige employers to make sure social distancing is being maintained at work, including team pods, staggered breaktimes and a ban on handshakes.

Most office workers have been working remotely for the past 18 months and businesses being encouraged to adopt a ‘blended’ working approach where possible.

Padraic McElwee of the Clare Local Enterprise Office says employers need to be aware that the pace of change will continue to accelerate in the work place.

Organised indoor group activities, including sports, arts, culture and dance classes are allowed to take place with capacity limits of 100 people.

This applies in cases where those attending are fully vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19 within the previous six months or accompanied minors.

Where those attending have mixed immunity, pods of up to six is allowed excluding leaders or teachers.

These gym goers warming up for their aqua class are delighted to be back indoors.

But one Clare yoga instructor says her classes won’t resume indoors until its safe for everyone to attend.

Paulette Egan of the Loft Yoga Studio in Clonlara will continue with online classes only for now as she feels it’s just not the right time to resume indoor classes.
