Ennis Chamber is appealing to the community to shop local this Black Friday.
The sales frenzy originated in the US, where shops put on major discounts the day after Thanksgiving, with the trend since filtering across the Atlantic to become increasingly popular in Ireland.
There’s mixed feeling amongst retailers in the county town, with some choosing to embrace the sale and others opting not to offer reduced prices.
Chief Executive of Ennis Chamber, Margaret O’Brien, says retailers participation this year comes at a time of increased pressure on business margins due rising costs.
