Clare VFI Chair Says Licencing Changes Coming At ‘Most Inopportune’ Time

The Chair of the Clare branch of the Vintner’s Federation of Ireland (VFI) says the new licencing rules are coming at the ‘most inopportune’ time.

The Cabinet has approved changes to Ireland’s 200-year old licensing laws meaning that nightclubs can serve alcohol until 5am and remain open until 6am, while pubs can open from 10.30am to 12.30am.

Late bar hours will remain the same, but licences will be granted annually, meaning venues aren’t required to reapply in court every month.
