Clare Retailers Say Shoppers ‘Out In Force’ As Christmas Countdown Begins

Businesses in Ennis and across Clare say shoppers are ‘out in force’ as the countdown to Christmas continues.

Retailers across the county are dealing with their busiest in-person shopping period since 2019, with many reporting customer numbers are higher this year than pre-pandemic levels.

A large number of businesses in Ennis intend to open as late as Christmas Eve afternoon to cater for last-minute shoppers.

A new enterprise has even opened its doors at the site of the former Mary Kelly’s shop on 28 O’ Connell Street in recent days.

Rory Chesser, who’s part of running store Local Motion, says they’re hopeful of retaining some of her customers over the festive period.
