A Clare addiction centre is encouraging people to focus on reducing alcohol intake sustainably throughout the year, rather than just going cutting it out entirely for the first month.
Large numbers of people are expected to engage in Dry January, which involves going the full 31 days without drinking.

In 2023 alone, there were 121 cases of people treated for alcohol addiction in Clare.
Deputy Manager at Bushypark Addiction Centre in Ennis Meadbh Firmino Da Silva Santos says while the initiative is positive and will lead to health benefits, these can be felt all year round.
