Bus driver injured as violence flares in Belfast again

A bus driver suffered cuts to his face when a brick was thrown through the window of his bus – during another night of violence in Belfast.

Police were attacked with stones and petrol bombs were thrown at a church in the Catholic Short Strand area.

The violence flared just hours after an appeal for calm – in what is now the seventh week of protests at a decision to restrict the flying of the Union flag above City Hall.

Northern Secretary Theresa Villiers says the disorder has to stop:
