Thousands of years of farming in the Burren is being celebrated there this weekend.
The Burren winterage festival continues until tomorrow, marking an annual end-of-summer practice which saw farmers herd their cattle up onto winter pastures in the limestone uplands.
A host of events are being held in Shanaglish, Kilnaboy, Carron, Corofin, Kinvara, Ennistymon, Kilfenora, Lisdoonvarna and Ballyvaughan throughout the weekend, though the highlight begins in Fanore tomorrow morning, and sees the anunal cattle drive along roads in the area.
One of the organisers Brendan Dunford says this will see some old times of winterage remembered.
