Burnt out car believed to linked to garda murder

Gardaí and the PSNI are examining a burnt out car believed to have been used by the gang responsible for the shooting dead of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe last Friday.

The vehicle was found  25 miles from the scene of the attack in County Louth and a cross border gang are the chief suspects in the killing.

41 year old Detective Garda Donohoe, whose wife Caroline comes from Kilkee in West Clare was shot and killed at close range in the credit union car park while on escort duty.

Security Editor with the Irish Independent Tom Brady says the discovery of the car is a significant development.

41 year old Detective Garda Donohoe will be laid to rest on Wednesday afternoon following funeral mass at St Joseph’s Redemptorist Church in Lordstown.

Family and friends from Kilkee and across Clare are likely to travel to County Louth to pay their respects.

The married father of two has been described as a big man with a big heart by locals.
