Bunratty Tops Clare Singleton Figures

Lisdoonvarna may be the home of the world-famous match-making festival, but it’s not the home of the most singletons in Clare.

Last year’s census showed 37% of people in Clare are single – that’s lower than the national average.

And now, a Clare FM breakdown of the data can now reveal that Bunratty is the singletons capital of the Banner county.

57.9 per cent of residents there are not married.

That’s the second highest of any area in Ireland, according to results from last year’s census.

The second highest rate of single people in Clare, at 49%, is Mountshannon, followed by Inagh, Miltown Malbay and Ennistymon.

On the other hand, 73% of adults in Lissycasey are married, and the lowest rates of single people are recorded in Kilmaley, Quilty, Cratloe and Quin.

The below picture illustrates the percentage of the population aged over 15 who were single on the night of the 2016 census.
