Bruton says Troika recommendation on increasing repayment schedule is a positive step

The Jobs Minister is signalling an easing of the austerity in forthcoming budgets if a deal on our bailout is secured.

Overnight the Troika recommended that Ireland and Portugal get an extra seven years to repay EU loans.

The move is expected to be centre stage at a meeting of Finance Ministers in Dublin this weekend – though a final decision would have to be made by Germany.

Minister Richard Bruton says it’s another positive step aimed at easing the burden on taxpayers:
