Broad welcome to news of Ennis being granted 2017 Fleadh

The Cathaoirleach of the Ennis Fleadh Executive Committee says it's a great honour to have the festival awarded to the town for a second year in a row. 

Ennis was up against Drogheda in the bid to host the 2017 event and were successful following a vote which concluded last evening at a meeting of The Comhaltas Ard Comairle.

Clare joins Sligo, Tipperary, Kerry, Donegal and Cavan as some of the counties which have hosted the event in two or more consecutive years. 

Mícheál Ó Riabhaigh says, with this year's Fleadh expect to attract up to 400,000 people to the town over 10 days in August, there is now an opportunity to build on this in 2017.
