Broad welcome to Greek Election result

The Tánaiste  and Foreign Affairs Minister says the outcome of the Greek general election will help to stabilise the Euro and the Eurozone.

The country’s main pro-bailout party New Democracy won the most votes but failed to secure an overall majority – so talks to form a coalition are due to begin later.

Eamon Gilmore says now that the political instability in Athens has been addressed – the focus of Europe must turn to economic growth and job creation.

In the meantime he says the result of the second round of elections is a positive development.
