The government’s decision not to sell Coilte’s harvesting rights has been described as good news for all forestry users in Clare.

Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney said the coalition believes now is "not the appropriate time to proceed with the sale" and that the focus will now be on restructuring Coilte and evaluating a possible merger with Bord na Móna.
Clare Labour TD Michael McNamara hopes this will lead to a further development of forestry for recreation in Clare and believes it will create spin off jobs in the timber industry
