British MPs will vote shortly on whether to hold a snap general election in June.

British MPs are preparing to vote in the Commons after Theresa May called for a general election to be held in June.

The Prime Minister needs a majority of two thirds for it to go ahead, nearly three years earlier than planned.

Mrs May had previously ruled it out – but now claims it’s necessary because opposition parties are trying to frustrate the UK’s exit from the EU.
