Breen insists too early to speculate on garda station closures

A Clare Government TD insists its too early to speculate on what if any rural garda stations across the county will close under the Garda Commissioner’s policing plan.

Earlier this week the Chief Superintendent John Kerin warned that, unlike last year when just one station – Carrigaholt shut-down,  he now expected several Clare stations to be closed down, given falling garda numbers and other stretched resources.

It lead to calls from community figures and local councillors for the county’s government TDs to lobby the Justice Minister over the embargo on garda recruitment.
