Garda Investigation Underway Into Ennistymon Shooting And Criminal Damage Incidents

A Garda investigation is underway into a number of incidents in North Clare last night, during which a firearm was discharged.

A man has been taken to hospital following the incident in Ennistymon.

Gardaí are investigating a number of incidents in Ennistymon last night, including a discharge of a firearm and criminal damage.

Shortly after 6pm, it’s reported a number of people were in the Deerpark area of Ennistymon in possession of a number of weapons, including at least one firearm.

During the course of a number of reported incidents in the area, extensive damage was caused to a number of domestic residences and vehicles.

A firearm was also discharged and a man in his 50s was later taken to University Hospital Galway with non-life threatening injuries.

A number of scenes have been preserved for technical examination.

Gardaí in Ennistymon are appealing for any witnesses to any of these incidents to come forward.

They’re particularly interested in speaking with any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam footage) and were travelling in the Deerpark area of Ennistymon last night and are appealing for that footage to be made available.
