Motorists are being warned of a significant oil spill on the Inagh to Miltown Malbay road in West Clare with reports of at least one vehicle having left the road and collided with a ditch due to the spillage.
The alarm was raised shortly after 12:30 this afternoon, following several reports of an oil spill, approximately 2km away from the Cloonanaha National School.
Clare County Council has been notified and the local fire brigade, along with local authority clean-up crews are working to resolve the situation.
Gardaí are urging motorists to slow down and drive with caution in the area over the course of the coming hours.
