The county town was up against Drogheda in the bid and was successful in a vote which concluded a short time ago.

Sligo, Tipperary, Kerry, Donegal and Cavan are just some of the counties which have hosted the event on two or more consecutive years

It's expected that this year's Fleadh will attract up to 400,000 people to the town over 10 days in August, providing a massive boost to the local economy.

And with the festival now secured for another year, Co. Clare is in line for another surge in tourism and spending in 2017.
