Large crowds are expected to descend on the twin towns of Killaloe and Ballina this weekend for celebrations that have been 1,000 years in the making.
The Brian Boru Millennium weekend remembers the former High King of Ireland who ruled from the town, up until his death in the Battle of Clontarf in April 1014.

Visitors and locals alike will be invited to step back in time as events include Viking Boat Tours, battle re-enactments, theatre and music.
Festivities begin tonight and run through to Sunday, while Clare FM’s Morning Focus will broadcast live from Killaloe today (April 11th) to make the occasion.
