The planning appeals authority is to be asked to rule on Clare County Council’s decision to permit the development of a solar farm near Clarecastle.
Engie Developments Ireland had been granted conditional planning permission to construct the solar farm and associated works in the townlands of Lissan West and Ballaghafaddy West.

However, this has now been further appealed by two local residents, Patrick Cullinan and John Casey, who have previously expressed concern about the potential impact of the project, particularly on their own properties.
An Bord Pleanala is now likely to make a decision on the project in October.
