Book Published Detailing History Of Local Government In Clare

A new book outlining the history of local government here in Clare has been published to mark the establishment of this county 450 years ago.

Elizabeth I made Clare a county under her rule in 1570, with Ennis being chosen as its capital by the Earls of Thomond.

The work, produced by Clare County Council, features previously unheard stories relating to local governance and life in Clare, ranging from the Ardnacrusha scheme to Shannon Airport.
