An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a body in North Clare.
Emergency services were alerted shortly before five o'clock yesterday evening after a man collapsed in Ennistymon.
The alarm was raised around 4.45 yesterday evening, following reports of a man collapsing close to the Falls Hotel in Ennistymon.
An ambulance and advanced paramedic unit as well as two units of the local fire brigade attended the scene, while the HSE’s air ambulance was also requested to attend, but was later stood down.
The area was sealed off for a forensic examination and the body was removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem examination is due to be carried out today.
A Garda spokesman has confirmed that there's no indication that the death is suspicious but that the post mortem will determine the course of the investigation.
Gardaí are investigating the possibility that the man may have suffered a fall or died as a result of a medical episode.
The officer of the State Pathologist has been informed.
