The Diocese of Killaloe will be looking for a new Bishop next January.
The current incumbent Dr. Willie Walsh has confirmed he will tender his resignation in five months time in compliance with church rules.

Dr Walsh will send the letter of resignation on his 75th birthday to Pope Benedict.
It normally takes 3 to 6 months to appoint a replacement bishop and it’s expected that a successor would be announced sometime between January and June.
Bishop Walsh says it’s simply time for him to go and the diocese to have a new voice and a man with new energy.
