The Diocese of Killaloe is encouraging people to keep survivors of abuse in their thoughts and prayers today.
The first Friday of Lent has been internationally recognised as the ‘Day of prayer for survivors of abuse’ since 2017 when it was introduced by Pope Francis.
As part of the event, candles of atonement will be lit at churches across the country.
