Bishop Of Killaloe Appeals For Prevention Of Carnage On County’s Roads

The Bishop of Killaloe is appealing to motorists and pedestrians to prioritise safety following what’s been described as a year of near carnage on the country’s roads.

Last year, 243 people lost their lives across the island in collisions with 174 deaths occurring in the Republic of Ireland.

In Clare alone, six people lost their lives in as many fatal road traffic collisions.

Bishop Fintan Monahan led the annual blessing of the roads ceremony outside Ennis Cathedral yesterday and he’s been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan that a greater degree of care is needed from all road users.
